Kids Martial Arts After School Classes Manhattan From Igor Dyachenko’s early days (5 of 7) Igor understood how this newfound gift would help him perceive physical movement from a bird’s eye view. It explained why he felt equally as comfortable performing Kata in darkness. It clarified his detailed memories to form and precision. He would later develop and use this gift to help train anyone willing to learn. For now, in a Ukrainian hospital, rather than feeling despair over his injury, and missing the chance to compete, he felt inspired, confident and empowered. If his physical training matched his mental will power, he knew he’d come back stronger than ever.
It wasn’t easy. Loosing the sense of touch in just the tip of one’s finger for a short amount of time can disrupt balance and coordination. Igor learned this lesson the hard way. It would prove valuable when teaching others, that every muscle and fiber in your body counts, from fingertip to toenail. Diligent practice continued, and in two years after Igor’s surgery, he competed in the 1997 Junior World Championships in Milan. Out of 148 world competitors, Igor won first place. He attributed it to his focus and determination. He shared his photos and trophy with his father, who longed to travel and who introduced him to the sport of Karate.
